Letter of reference for: Robert Johnston
I am a life-long student of all things 'bagpipe,' trained by two fine Pipe Majors in the Scots tradition. I hail frae "The Kingdom of Fife" and cut my teeth as a juvenile in the fifties before completing successfully until 1965 in solo and band competition. As a young teenager I came to the U.S. (1965), and have acted as a supporting member in a number of bands since then.
Robert Johnston has been my student for about two years. In that time he has displayed complete dedication to becoming a "Piper's piper." Self furnished with the finest kit and playing the very finest custom crafted instrument, he is dedicated to providing a complete audio/visual performance that is authentic in every way. He is a student and natural player of the "Piobaireachd," our classical laments and salutes. His slow airs are moving and filled with expression. His graveside renditions bring tears to his listeners, allowing grief to flow, at last. His wedding marches are delightful and stirring and he is a quick study for new requests, if they fit his instrument.
In two years dependable, punctual, and diligent in his lessons. He has followed the recommendations of 'all' his instructors and worked hard to become the very best active funeral/wedding/birthday or event piper in the Rogue Valley.
That is my opinion and I write it here without reservation.

Hi Robert, I just want to thank you again for the amazing presentation of music that you did for John's party the other night. Many of our guests were absolutely astounded and surprised. John told me you're the best he's ever heard on bagpipes. That's a real compliment because he's heard bagpipes for many years. You're a great guy and you were easy to work with. Thank you so much for making this dream come true for my husband and I.
